...as I choose

I feel myself still under deep shades of grey
reaching further than my eyes can see,
that cast muted shadows in silvery light,
while granting me transparent sight.
And I relish the feel of the warm desert winds
in the darkness of the night,
that wrap themselves 'round the naked grime
in hours now lost in time...
...as I choose to make wishes on stars that streak
through black velvet skies on a whim,
taking my dreams to the gods that reside
in the hearts of those who believe.

Ahhh dear one I hear your anguish. Hoping your gray skies will brighten one day soon. Blessings to you Shadow!

there is something fanciful about wishing on stars...but i like to think sometimes they are answered...

Hi Shadow, how are you doing? Being under shades of grey is growing into lighter dimensions, not stuck in the dark. Just as the eyes are seeing lighter colors, the emotions are waking to some joy.

I find myself drawn to this more then you know, well maybe you know. I have stood in the desert naked with those winds swriling around me.... looking for answers and getting none, but loving the feel...

The wishes are affirmations, and the vision will come through the grey veil, keep attending to it...

There is always an obstruction, a hurdle on a path... again, we are left with the choice, a decision that only we can make... lift the rock that blocks the path and clear it OR take a detour to avoid it.

I don't think wishing on a star is going to help me right now. I don't even think dreaming is going to be of much use. I throw myself into the caring arms of the God I believe resides in my heart.

Sad yet beautiful thoughts here.

Welcome to my world! LOL :) Stargazing can't be bad, and wishes help dreams become reality...

There's a oneness in these words, the type of oneness that preludes creation. BTW, you asked for a more recent sample of my writing, so I posted one on my blog along with a link back to your blog; I think many of my readers would enjoy your poetry.

Shadow, Shadow, Shadow!!!! Wow....this was incredible. It's so descriptive, it's so feeling, it's so filled with everything life hands us yet so revealing it's uncanny and right on target.

In some ways the picture is a sharp contrast and other ways it fits perfectly. Evokes that much more raw emotions from the poem.

There's something beautiful in every situation if we open ourelves to see it. And lifting our eyes to the heavens, even in the midst of the valley of the shadow of death, gives us strength.

..just spent the weekend out in the desert at the drag race track.

One day was bright and beating, the next in a protective haze of grey, in between the night sky seemed to blanket lower than usual...and all the while...I had a dusting of sand.

Cheers!...to settling into the grey.

Relishing the feel of warm desert winds...I can 'feel' that right now! But darkness is not a part of now, because bright moon is on its way to fullness.

Makes no difference where you are when you wish upon a star, your dreams will come true.

Mine though, go to your other choice, to the God Who resides in the hearts of those who believe.

Love your blog, girl!
PEACE!

There is a song by Verve Pipe that resonates with your words:

COLORFUL

The show is over close the story book
They'll be no encore
And all the random hands that I have shook
Well they're, reaching for the door
I watch their backs as they leave single file
But you stood stubborn, cheering all the while

I know I can be colorful
I know I can be gray
But I know this loser's living fortunate
Cause I know, you will love me either way

Most were being good for goodness sake
But you wouldn't pantomime
You are more beautiful when you awake
Than most are in a lifetime
Through the haze that is my memory well
You stayed for drama though you paid for a comedy and

I know I can be colorful
I know I can be gray
But I know this loser's living fortunate
Cause I know, you will love me either way

Look ahead as far as you can see it
We'll live in drama but we'll die in a comedy and I know I can be colorful (we're living in color blind)
I know I can be gray (my colors fade away)
And I know this losers living fortunate
Cause I know, you will love me
Yes I know, you will love me
I know, you will love me
Either way

This is one of those songs that helps me feel whole when the world is split in those daunting shades of gray, seeking color. (Hugs)Indigo

The end struck a chord with me: Belief. It's all about faith. Those dark days, the ones that seem so hopeless and grim ---but if you instill faith (of any kind) and KNOW by faith, that this is just a "gray day" and that tomorrow is a brand new day, you have it made.

Beautiful piece!

One last comment from me, Shadow. Just to express that I have felt a certain calming influence from your words, a special connection--since July 2008 when you welcomed me here.

And so shall you live in memory of mine. Goodbye on the blogs, but I may just drop you an email one day--to see "how everything is!"

Love, and PEACE!

Believe. I am drawn to that word of late. Believing in something, someone, somehow.
Believing in our hopes and our dreams. Believing in Faith...even when it seems hard to.

Relishing the warmth of the desert winds gives me the feeling of being alive and connected...even if not fully engaged yet.
