Breaking Dawn

In the depth of your soul a war is raging,
a war so cold in its intensity
it burns everything you’ve ever known
to ashes.
The walls you thought impenetrable
have crumbled and collapsed
exposing everything you’ve kept inside,
threatening to drown you in insanity,
when from the ground a mist starts to rise,
shapeless and soundlessly surrounding you in its cloak,
stilling the air, calming the pounding pulse in your veins,
and cushioning your fall as you sink into the dreamless sleep
of the overextended;  where you can reset the clock,
discard the pointless reminders that have tied you up,
and find the answers locked in your heart.  You rise from the ashes
with the wind still tearing at your hair, but your steady gaze crumbles
the rage to dust, the pain to extinction, and you stand tall amongst the slaughter,
proud, for you are who you are today, before turning your back for the very last time
and walk towards the foaming waves that play with the breaking dawn.

  2. there is much of the past we need to learn from...
and others we need to learn to let go of...so that we can rise above
and move on...into the life we deserve...

  6. The best way to rage against the wind and waves is be the whirlwind in the midst of a hurricane, better to make them an ally than to let them tear me apart.
