Dark and long,
bleak and frozen,
empty, barren and bare…
Feel, as it overwhelms,
sinks through the air,
to your skin and down to your soul.
Feel, as it drains from you
your will to move,
you’re absorbed in the landscape, white.
Feel, as your mind clears
and thoughts turn to wisps
of a mist that is snagged by the breeze.
Feel, as you merge
with this silence that is,
the time of rest is here…

Hi Shadow
ReplyDeleteThought you left?. Glad to see you posted again. I love this poem. Describes the way I feel about winter so well. I hate the cold? Don't you?
Dark and long for sure. Winter knocked our socks off this year.
ReplyDeleteIt took effort to not let it suck life out of us. Apparently you felt the same way. This week is a new month and better weather. Lets hope we all have an enjoyable spring and are renewed and ready for summer. I hope things are going well for you.
Welcome home, my sweet friend. HUG.
ReplyDeleteThe thing you need to remember is that even though the winter comes, and the days are short, the warmth out here will sustain you.
You feel, Shadow, like none other I have known. And your words make ME feel like none others have done.
ReplyDeleteI am in the snowy countryside and my thoughts have turned to wisps. And the silence and rest become white as your inspiring word-pictures of the snow
Welcome here, whether you packed an over-niter..or many bags for expended staying.
Hugs!

For many the mind refuses winter and stays to bask in the glow of summer before being covered by the warmth of the sands of time.
ReplyDeleteindeed so... you have your winter arriving soon, while our summer is yet to be
ReplyDeletebest if you have a warm place to be during those cold times...
One needs to feel anything to completely relish it OR despise it.
