wrap me in your arms of ice and soak into my bones
let me fade in frozen mist as hard and cold as stones
fill me with the silent howl of icy winds that storm
leave behind the black and white that steals my last breath warm
i need to sink into the void, the motionless abyss
i’m waiting here for you to give that final mortal kiss
to transport me into a place of silence that’s devoid
of any touch and any sound, all senses left destroyed

very eloquent and sad. i love the chilliness of this poem and your picture is absolutely perfect
ReplyDeleteWow! This is dark, cold, nothingness. It chills me to the core. Sounds like a place I was very close to. Thank God for my sobriety.
ReplyDeleteVery powerful poem, Shadow.
PG
Beautiful imagery Shadow. This reminds me of one of my favorite Sarah Mclaphlan songs.
ReplyDeleteArms of ice sounds too cold for my little hot heart! I just climbed out of the void a year ago, never to return. I do like your writing though. With this one, I stand back a bit and read and remain detached. You always find awesome graphics for your posts!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful words n so the photo you shared.. thanks Shadow.. :))
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Sam..
sometimes there is nothing more confortable than the lack of self existence .
ReplyDeletebut even so i hope you feel good this weekend .
reminds me of dylan's 'desolation row'...
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a rough place to be. It is too nice here to go into the void.
ReplyDeleteVery moving words.
ReplyDeleteHow is it that you are able to write such beautiful poems on anything and everything? I'm jealous. Never stop writing, ok?
ReplyDeleteLeaves me to think we should appreciate the senses while we have them. Great post.
ReplyDeleteJust going into myself and primarily relying on others just feels right sometimes. When I need to recharge, a little alone time can go a long way to getting me going again and back with the living. Thanks and have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteLove the first line!
ReplyDeleteyour family is waiting for you shadow.
ReplyDeletenobody is going to sink in this flood.
the love that overflows the rivers is white and sometimes clear
closing your eyes you can still see
the truth is I was always near
what you need is already within
what you desire and want floats with and always be within reach
when at heart mind is pure
your heart will steer towards the way it already knows whats mine is now yours this weekend you can be greedy ONCE and only because we do not reside in same city
And never lost the rhythm...
ReplyDeleteAbsoloutely beautiful, Shadow.
Longing for something, or someone, so bad, accepting all consequence.
J'adore...
powerful and vivid. everyone needs to go there sometimes. i like to think of it as a cleansing ritual. it's a dark place to be, but from the darkness i still believe you can find the light. at least i do today...
ReplyDeletewarm smiles,
I am imagining love waiting for confirmation, waiting a long time...

ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I'm reminded of a song, as well.
ReplyDeleteyou have this great ability to make even the cold, dark places feel warm and safe... should we all follow, would it be so? As always, beautiful.
ReplyDeleteQuite a scary piece, together with a dark yet stunning picture. I've no idea how you can compose such intense feelings into so few words.
ReplyDeleteDeviant art: my lovely daughter Clare has many of her works of art pictured there. Search for Fairytasia and you'll see how talented she is. I'm a very proud Dad!
Very gothic! Nice one!
ReplyDeleteWow Shadow-I've got chills.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure whether this state is a rapture or a horror.
ReplyDeleteSuch quietness breathes from this poem... I think everybody needs silence sometimes...
ReplyDeletewow, i'm left speechless.

ReplyDeleteReally heavy and completely beautiful. The photo is a perfect fit for the mood. UOK?
ReplyDeleteOh, without God, this may be where I spent many a year. You've made me grateful.

ReplyDeleteyou are an amazing writer,
my Shadow of a friend.xoxo
The void calls, adorning itself with all the allure of oblivion ... neglecting to mention that the path out of it's icy grip is long and tortuous. And yet ... it calls. xx Jos
ReplyDeleteOne of your best. The first line had me gripped.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, as usual!
ReplyDeleteSo nice that you stopped by my blog again. Aftzer my intense trauma therpay I am a bit grafile, and fairly vulnerable. THis lst poem of yours is to chilly for me currently. It is powerful in its sdaness and I am sorry, I cant handle currently.
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhhhhhh, my Shadow, this really takes me away. Every word, every syllable is outstanding. Cold, dark, sinister yet the warmth of the everafter.
ReplyDeleteI was "wrapped" from line one.
ReplyDeletePowerful.
Jim
Although there is sadness here, there is still a feeling of strength in those words... Maybe the strength lies in the will to suffer...
ReplyDeleteNevine
Oh my! so much is said already in the comments, i don' know what i can add.
ReplyDeleteso i say Beautiful, but mean much more than that.
Oblivion ain't all it's cracked up to be. Have some tea instead.
ReplyDeleteIt painted a picture.. and i could see it clearly! Are you crying?!
ReplyDeleteI don't have words for this.. Sad, beautiful.. Brings to fore all emotions..
ReplyDeleteThe cold is always attracted to the warmth.
ReplyDeleteThey can only exist together never apart
Shadow-Girl this one is dark. the opening line is too someone, something. Who has arms of ice?
