55 - melody of chaos

Collective they stream
down the road like a swarm,
seeking ruin, with cries in the air.
Harm and destruction
secreting a chill
that swells to a violent cold dare.

……fragile the silence
they leave in their wake
mongst litter that blows in the breeze,
dark’ning the day
with destructive intent,
when hatred to ruin carries.

every friday, compose a short story of 55 words - no more, no less. if you want to join in the fun and games and give it a your story and report to the boss G-Man

  1. As usual, really nice. My first effort at a 55 is up as well.

  2. First off I love the title of this piece. It sets the tone for when you read. You can picture exactly what kind of music fits this piece. Dark but awesome. (:

  3. wow. what beautiful chaos you create. nice 55...

    mine is up!

    and hae a wonderful weekend!

  4. Strong fluid words in this one Shadow. Well done!

  5. Pretty powerful 55 for such a beautiful spring day. Today I cherish the fact that I don't live in chaos much anymore. Peace and serenity are usually the order of the day.

  6. Well dear... that's chaos... and the pic I love too!

  7. very well written, the picture is amazing too

  8. Another Yahoo! 55, Shadow! And lots coming through in just 55... I don't know how you do it!

  9. How very awesome and that picture is unique as well Shadow. Blessings to you dear one.

  10. Melancholy truth about hatred. Beautiful and eloquent gift to the subject matter. (Hugs)Indigo

  11. well, this one is really gud bt as i hv told earlier too m bad at poetry so i can't get d relation or true hidden sense of last 2 lines....
but still its awesum coz d lines before r enuf to spell bound me wid d theme......

  12. "……fragile the silence
    they leave in their wake"

again , i loved your poem , this above is the part that sparkled in soft silence inside my body .

  13. This was so cool! I felt the chaos in it.

  14. Excellent - matches up to my day where we just began reading Fahrenheit 451 in class.

  15. A dark and serious piece. I hope you're safe.

  16. Shadow Dancing...
I just love it when you play.
    The perfect 55!!
Thank you so much for this Gem.
    You Rock The Planet!
    Have a Kick Ass Week-End...

  17. I like this picture a lot. The title shakes you up and prepares you for the rest.

  18. You've captured the essence of chaos with amazing descriptions. Reminded me of a crowd rioting, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

    My 55 is Molten Words

  19. Very nice, I am always blown away at your writing, be it 55 or 100, you are like a painter everything is very vivid. Take care.

  20. Yes ma'am I know that dead silence of noise well. We are creating more of it as we swarm through.

  21. I can't believe it...I MISSED your 55?!! How on earth did that happen?

    Excellent. And, yes, chaotic.

  22. Shadow,

I leave and come back and you always surprise me with your sentimental poems.

I would like to choose one to post it on my blog during the month of April.

By the way my URL changed

  23. '' fragile the silence'' -what lovely imagery!
and the music to go with it!

  24. I'm not sure that I fully grasped the image - I think I did the poem, though!

  25. Whoa Shadow, this reminds me of some of the small town ladies I knew, and the teenage daughters they were training.

  26. Nice shadow. The melody of chaos isn't harmonious is it?

  27. very powerful.. and in just 55 words.

  28. Simply fantastic!
You take the art of word-smithery to new heights!

  29. oh yeah I knew,

    I mean, well most

oh ya ya ya ya phan-TA-sy

    THAT is not technically softball

(I have to really be at a field in real life and we have to throw actual balls right?)

  30. Shadow
hmmm...the quiet wake that follows the storm
    almost like gloating.
    great image too!

  31. "Fragile silence"--- beautiful combo. I imagined both scenarios: the volcanic eruption in Iceland and on a lesser scale, a swarm of killer bees. I know it's much deeper than that, but you have given me a few visuals.
    Beautifully written as always!

  32. as always, well executed. i found more than chaos, i found notes of spoken words meant to tear apart the music itself.

  33. There's nothing quite so frightening as an angry mob bent on destruction. You captured both the before and after scenes perfectly!

  34. what craft you posess! thanks for sharing this powerful 55...and for leaving me thinking...

  35. 44th comment.

Howdy! Decided to rejoin the party.

Wen I saw YOU back here, I could not resist being again a "part of" rather than "apart from"...ya know?

Guess I heard that drum beat all the way from SA

    All is well, V.

5 awards on the bottom of my post.
