The Edge of Purpose

Are we but a culmination of every choice we ever made,
formed by the times we’ve been dented and bruised,
tamed by the views as set by society,
and moulded into obedient slaves,
unseeing and unfeeling, unquestioning?

Or are we the result of our passions and desires,
taking leaps that take us over the edge of purpose,
obtaining scars and bruises along the way,
yet the pleasure outweighs that what we seek.

  1. I don't know but that sure feels like my day - no wait - the whole week.

  2. This sounds like the first half of my life and then the second half. I didn't know I had been brain washed.

  3. I think we might be a bit of both..interesting perspective for a poem..

  4. you're an amazing poet.

    I believe we're change.

    Keep writing.

  5. I really don't know the answer but thanks to your poem I am going to ponder it all ...

  6. Methinks maybe all of the above in a natural sense.

  7. Ask me and i will always say that the journey was the destination. Now i journey no more...
