55 - lullaby of non-existence

every friday, compose a short story of 55 words - no more, no less. if you want to join in the fun and games and give it a try...post your story and report to the boss G-Man!

i weep for touch that shows you’re here
a warmth that breaks through the veneer
to fill the absence in my heart
to break the feeling of apart
i weep for you to fill the absence
change the song to stirring cadence
to fill the nothingness in my heart
to hold me ‘til sorrows depart

  1. How wonderfully talented you are, Shadow.

More wonderful is that you share it so freely.

And more wonderful than THAT--is the God, the Creator, the SOURCE of all talent, has smiled on you in this fashion.

Positively beautiful, picture, and 55 word piece. Thank you!

  2. I'm not a lover of poetry but I really like this one. It makes you feel and that's what a good poem should do. All of that emotion in just 55 words.
    Well done.

  4. WE dragons don't understand much of your human emotions but we do know what it means to be lonely. Good poem that captures that feeling.

  6. I'm SOOO far behind on your work here. I guess because it always makes me think and that's been a luxury I haven't had time for lately. I can so relate to this one.

  9. Reading this I experience longing, that desire to connect in a profound way with another human being.

As I read, I know that God is ultimately the only thing that can do for me what your poem looks for.

Sometimes God expresses himself through another human being.

    Love your 55,
    Prayer Girl

  15. Quite a challenge I would imagine - writing a story in less than 55 words. You have achieved a success with it. Amazingly inspirational pictures you choose too.

  19. This one gives me the chills ... a combination of the words, the picture, and the E Nomine song that's playing on the stereo, I think.

  28. Wow - this is a challenge I might be able to do, although not as good as you Shadow. This poem (not a story) is beautiful, perfectly balanced in its rhythm, and you managed 55 words too!
