we leave but a fleetingsense of our touch,as we pass through this world on a breeze;as ocean waves strokethe distant seashore, our footprint is lost to the seas.picture: http://milesgore.deviantart.com/art/Discontent-84487845
This is so true. You put your impression into the sand, and the sea covers it by the wave as it washes out. Great one Shadow. Blessings and hugs...
for me this is a feeling of freedom . to know that one day i will get totaly forgoten by this world . far way . and no footprints for be followed by the orks . good morning Shadow ( still morning here ) .
This is how my hospital visit with patients will be today. Our encounters will be fleeting and as I pass through rooms, I pray that God will leave something through touch and words.PG
THis is touching and true. It reminds me of times when I have seen so mnay footprints while walking on the beach, remembering how much bigger or smaller they were than mine, watching as the water from the sea washed them out, leaving without a trace. It reminds me of the poem we read at my brother's funeral, Footprints in the sand"That day with God's help, he has left his footprints in my heart. And on the sand, as we walk, let their be a shadow that always remains, so we are leaving some part of us behind HUGS
Maybe we could leave a pile of rocks.
i love this one. we may never know the significants of those touches though...
Some of us leave deeper footprints than others - and it's not so easy for those 'seas' to wash them away. You leave deep footprints.
I just loved this one! jeNN
In the grand scheme of things, we are just little pissants, huh? Smile.
Every single moment in time is so unique and hen you think about it, it has alreeady faded away!
Shadow,Each time I am deeply touched as I read your poems. I always think it is the best and then you do it again...you touch me even deeper. GOD is certainly working in and through you. You have a very special gift.Blessings, hugs, and prayers, andrea
you've given your gift of footprints, very nice for tracking them along the shores of my heart.Hugs and love !!!
so beautiful! flowing like a calm surf up to the sands, then washing the footprint away. taken from view but not from memory.warm smiles,
All track of us is lost within minutes, but we can retrace our steps, yes?
We must find a way to trust that our experience here will not be lost on us. Another reminder to stay in the Now.
Beautiful, philosophic, deep... Like the sea!
Wow, that was short and sweet and rather stunning!Chris
Shadow- fleeting, yes. How about the footprints our spirit leaves? slightly more staying? ~rick
Oh really Shadow dear? Is that it?No shadows of who we were?No spirits dancing and having fun by that sea?...
OMG, LOL! You have to go to my post today and read my answer to the question about reincarnation!PROFOUND...we are on the same wave-length.much love
so lovely and sparse,my eyes rest for a fleeting moment on thesewords and come away feelingthat soulful truth resonates
Sad but true.
This made me cry...maybe I'm just emotional today :o)
Beautiful Shadow as always, congratulations on your 400 followers, everyone of us is luckly to read your words. so glad I found your blog. Take care.
i am of a mind that having passed this way once it be enough and that the sea does all a great service when it rakes the sand removing any trace that I had been upon it.
The words of one from another plane. CJ xx
Yep...You sure don't leave much on this ole Earth do you?Your Children, and your reputation!
Transient souls.Yes.A calm one, Shadow. I like it.xoerin
In such a short verse it says so much!!!! And it's so right.
PS---you commented: "my mind was full of tom hanks, although when i read the da vinci code the first time before the movie was made, robert langdon was a tall dark and dashing man in my mind, and now he's just tom hanks..."I say: YES!!! Yes...I so agree with all you posted. In fact, my first impression of having T H play Robert Langdon was such a mis-casting call. It should have been someone like Pierce Brosnan. LOL
I like the black and white photo of something that is usually bright color it gives a contrasting view of what one would usually see.I feel grateful for today after reading the words.Thank you for sharing.
ah... but sometimes our sole legacy is in the printed word and/or graphic, even beyond any offspring
I hope that this is only applied to those sad and incident, which has no worth for us to remember.

I love the analogy, we are the earth, I often visualize wearing my landscape when it is too stunning to ignore, leave behind, recreate.querie: does printing our poems on our blogs constitute "publishing"?
I have watched my foot prints disappear so many times. But I believe that I also leave something indelible.
Well,if our footprints should leave it is all we can hope our legacy in others we love, never will.
minimal picture minimal words strong meaning Perfect!
When I cnnot stand to leave the beautiful landscape I am standing in, or hope to ever see it again, I pause, own it as an impresionist painter and choose to wear it as my skin from then on, and I am at peace/instead of anguish. Thanks Shadow,
Hrmm, but as long as we have blogs and internet, our legend lives on, ....doesn't it? In all seriousness, beautiful piece!
This is like a gentler version of Shelley's "Ozymandias."
Ah, but the water just brushes the sand away but leave the dent all the way to the core
Just lovely! Gave me a serene, relaxing, floating feeling. Heavenly!
beautifully stated, Shadow!
