impulse dictates
you search for dreams
at the end of the highway far,
when all you need
is to look inside
the chambers of your heart.
you search for dreams
at the end of the highway far,
when all you need
is to look inside
the chambers of your heart.
It is in the heart where the roads reach the furthest. Better a well traveled heart than a well worn shoe.
ReplyDeleteShort and simple. Just need to look into my heart. Getting there slowly . . . I know there is a lot that awaits me inside. Thanks Shadow! Blessings to you....
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteYou'll never guess what I found
ReplyDeleteCome closer lovely shadow
I'll whisper it to you
So true....so so very true!!!
ReplyDeleteI have a lot of catching up on my Shadow reading, so this comment is probably one of many. :o)
Awesomeness is deeply integrated in these lines as are there within you. These words of wisdom could not be better said, I think. The best lines I have read these days. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYes! Now if we could only remember that when we get so frustrated with ourselves. As always, beautiful!
ReplyDeleteNevine
I know, we need to concentrate on our "near-sightedness" more.
ReplyDeleteSecretia
beautifully written...wonderfully true thought...
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a song. I can even hear the music!
ReplyDeleteI like the way you say impulse, as in seems natural to venture out to find that which is within. In this past year I am finding the person within and hey, she's not so bad.
ReplyDeleteSo immensely true! How come I can only learn after trying?
ReplyDeleteawesome reminder.
ReplyDeleteI love this.
I love this!
ReplyDeleteWisdom beautiful lady....pure wisdom...
ReplyDeletePerfect! ...and I had this immediate sense of 'tranquility' reading your words and viewing that photo.
ReplyDeleteYou are a tonic to this soul~

The mystery can sometimes be so scary, but there are times when you think you have found heaven.
ReplyDeleteShadow, you have done good here. I also like the use of the word "impulse" because it's a natural instinct to seek dreams down the road, away somewhere over the rainbow. I also like the "chambers" of the heart, those many-rooms beating within that keep us living, breathing, moving.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your thoughtful discussion on my blog today about troubled pasts and what we can learn from them, how to conquer them. Blessings to you,
Chris
Oh Shadow,
ReplyDeleteI needed this simple, yet eloquent poem, today. Thank you!
Blessings and hugs, andrea
Simple yet so elegant... and so true! Thanks Shadow and Hugs!!!
ReplyDeleteShadow.. i just love this.. so simple... so profound... a gift to me this day. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful
ReplyDeleteUp to now one of my favorite poems was by Emily Dickerson--
One need not be a chamber---to be Haunted--
One need not be a House--
The brain has Corridors--surpasssing
Material place.
I will not think of hers without yours.

no camments , i can't comment the truth this way .
ReplyDeleteit is unnecessarie .
yes... nowhere to escape from oneself...
ReplyDeleteShadow- Sorry, can't join the choir on this one. My heart drives me and leads me to my dreams; makes me desire them. But my dreams don't exist there. But I am glad for the easy trip others have. Mine is always the hard way. Still a lovely write. ~rick
ReplyDeleteHmm, that's a place I haven't looked in a while ...
ReplyDeleteNo truer sentiments could ever be written so beautifully and ring so true in my heart.
ReplyDeletexo gabi
Yes, indeed.
ReplyDeleteShadow, this is really beautiful... and so true!
ReplyDeleteIs it really that close?
ReplyDeleteyou got it, shadow... but we foolish humans need to learn the hard way, it seems....
ReplyDeleteThis one, so short, so well metered, so balanced, is so true. Love it, Shadow.

Shadow, beautiful, how can so few words be so powerful...beautiful. take care,
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree. I also like to look for new things to dream about which is a good thing to have in the heart.
ReplyDelete---PS...I just read your comment you left for me. Your husband is a wise man. To me, the time is right when I think it's right. Who cares what others think. LOL
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a super Monday.
I am no sure this is one door away from heaven... Your pictures really ARE heavenly beautiful!
ReplyDeleteyour photo and words together always break me open just a little bit more than I was the day before...
ReplyDeletesomething inside coming out soon!
ReplyDeleteinspiring again again you are dear one!
hugs and love to you Shadow!
So much wisdom, in so few words!
ReplyDeletePerfectly said.
ReplyDeleteI think I look inside my heart all the time one may say to much. I think I try and find the good and the beauty in all, simplicity, is me.
ReplyDeleteGreat write.. HUGS
Yet that's the last place we look sometimes.
ReplyDeletevery powerful words here dear Shadow.
ReplyDeletesmiles,
this resonates with me right now... I know I am taking things for granted and feel the need for more than I have (not materialistically)... searching... questioning... but I know I need someone to come pour a bucket of cold water over my head,,, or shake me to make me wake up and see reality. I know it, but somehow I dont feel it.
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday Shadow!
Truer words were never spoken, dear Shadow!
ReplyDeleteI should be more impulsive!
ReplyDeleteThe title alone grasps hold of my mind...'see inside' and often we may fear what we find...? wonderful thought process you have here
ReplyDeleteShadow, I agree with you but, but, but....but sometimes the journey is what allows me to clear my head, gather my world-strewn thoughts and words, and settle into an existence, although seeming boring, may leave a tone for generations to follow.
ReplyDeleteIs that a record for the longest sentence-of-the-day???
Looking inside is one of the most difficult things in this life.
ReplyDeletebecause
-it is too close to us
-it is blurred by millons of modern life distractions
-we are not sure we want to know what is in there
Love pal
I do agree! And I just love your combinations of words and pictures, as always!
ReplyDeleteThe only thin wrong with this is it supposes i have a heart to look into. [;[p}
ReplyDeleteLove it Shadow
