when angels cry

sculpted into
archetypal mold,
curtailed, ere we even start;
filling our souls
with angel’s tears
as we bear captivity's mark.

  2. lovely shadow,
soon there will be no anythings with authority over any of your being. Those who choose the way of the previous can have it that way too, but always by choice.

The revolution will not be televised nor ever fully recognized. Peacefully taken over dismantled reorganized put back with very few the wiser

  3. A back without scars is a back that has never carried weight. A back that has never carried weight is weak.

  4. Even angels can't fix everything, they pain too. A lovely poem, Shadow. Thanks.

  5. It's short, Shadow, but it does present a helluva large question, Do we spend our time, our souls, captive in human form, and then what before and after. The photo itself so gorgeous, I wouldn't mind a human form so much if I were that beautiful.

Much to mull on. Have a great weekend.

  9. Shadow- this really makes me want to break free. Is there a mark freedom leaves that I may wear? ~rick

  11. Wow. I don't know what to say. Are angels in bondage? Are they mourning for us humans? It's an awesome piece, one of those that flies right over my literal head. Someday, will you explain it to me?

  12. the angels tears are for our own suffering...where we see captivity, they see freedom.

    much love

  15. gladly, enchantedoak... this poem is about how society and norms bind us, how we are formed and shaped right from the day we are born, by our parents, rules, regulations. restricting us, preventing us from living our dreams, exceeding our desires, keeping us in a box rather than moving freely outside of it... and our souls end up crying, as do the angels in the heavens, since we're ultimately not not living our dream, we are not free...

  16. Only angels can cry like that,
    be created like that
Only angels can be described like that
Only angels can say so much in just 20 words ( I happen to know that's their favourite number...)

  17. I read your explanations after I commented. Still I like my intrpretation and the sweet words I've written to my poetess #1

  18. I've heard a lot about angels today and now your poem has come along. Amazing coincidences. I believe in angels and I believe they must cry sometimes too. If they didn't, they wouldn't have compassion, which I believe they have in abundance.
    Blessings, Star

  19. You say everything I have been thinking lately. In six lines, more feelings than I dare to admit *sigh*

  21. This speaks of destiny to me, something we can not run or hide from. Even the Angels can not save us and quite possibly we drown from there tears. Maybe they in its self is a mercy killing of love

  22. Stoppittttttt. 20 words and you said that much? Get out of town, woman. To me, your meaning was crystal clear. I think this poem is stellar.

  24. So many yearn and starve for their freedoms and yet never get to taste it, some squander what they have, others celebrate it with creativity and expressions.

We all come with some sort of a captive stamp, but how skilled are we at allowing ourselves to rub it off and how much.

I can relate to this when I was in a childhood of repression. So this one kind of rings with me...

  25. Shadow....
Beautiful, sad, powerful. I would ask for a stamp...on my hand...like the ones they give at dance clubs...to come and go , free , and then return

  26. cause it's wrong for me to leave comments like I did.

those actions (leaving ugly comments) will not do anything to resolve the inner conflict I feel.

cause again I was wrong with my actions I am sorry shadow. Sorry tgo you and all your readers

  27. Many times in my life I have broken the bonds of tradition, rules, etc., only to pay a price, naturally! But the price always in the end seemed worth it, but not at the time of my "transgressions"...

We DO yet have what we used to call FREE WILL. I can choose in a heartbeat whether to stay or go, stop or start, walk with the crowd, or walk that "other" path alone. Again there are costs either way.

Shadow, you are, well...quite outstanding in many ways, I hope you know that--with humility, of course --grin!
