Windblown...

Ice-cold desolation washes over me as I see the sand, blowing in waves across the cracked, deserted tarmac. And icy fingers tug at my hair, tearing and tangling the once smooth facade, while a bolt of lightning rips through the black storm clouds rushing this way... a world transformed in the blink of an eye, gone are the sunny skies and the impression of summer, removed in an instant by the harsh force that's winter's grip on my heart.

...bitter the taste of wasted years
spent in a state of illusion,
craftily woven with marked intent,
promises windblown and broken.

  2. As usual on the same page Shadow. Now if we do not stand and take the bolts of ice and lightening we leave them for our children to be enslaved by. I for one am not willing to do that.

  3. Oh my great writing. The photo is definitely part of the scene you describe. "...across the cracked, deserted tarmac." Great choice of words.

In real life I cannot allow myself to think of years wasted. Just my way of getting to where I am now. But leaving my own feelings out of it, I can appreciate the words and the sentiment of this post.

  6. And as the world now passes in shrill sounds of the storm, there is little of time that passes, as if time itself has stopped. I'll wait indoors till its over.

    Nice one!

  7. Wow..this is so gorgeous. I reread some of these lines 3 times because not only are they beautiful to read but their meaning is wonderful.

  8. Incredibily deep. I could hear Kansas playing, "Dust in the Wind" in the background of my mind. (Hugs)Indigo

  9. Even illusions have their purpose. Protecting us from something we are not ready to see not strong enough to face the truth.

  10. Those intents always deceive, too. But we can try and recapture them... and make them work to our advantage.

  12. Those "Windblown" states that everybody passes through can really chill, the freeze can sometimes reach deep.

I am just glad is appears you might start posting more frequently again. Cause I know I tore through here carrying a fiercely freezing storm, and left patchy freezing fog. Wished I would have recognized what I was dragging with me.

  13. I see the air field and you standing there in a yellow dress. Then the wind picks up and blows but you are steady like a rock, beautiful and sparkling like a star in the nights sky. Whom ever broke the bond lost out on true love.

  15. What a visual and descriptive feeling you gave me. I just got back from Mark's blog (The Walking Man) and I'm noticing a lot of poems dreading the winter correlating with their own feelings. I love love loved this!

  20. Bitter the taste of waste....
If there is a final judgment, I have heard it will be not so much "What did I do..." but rather "What did I NOT do".

    PEACE, my SA blog-friend!

  23. I feel cold just by reading this. That's a sign of a successful piece of literature; provoking an emotion within a reader. :)

  24. Incredible Shadow. I can read this and then re-read it over and over and get different 'scenarios' of life's ups and downs. Excellent work.

I've been darned busy this week, and this is now a time I finally set aside visiting my blogging buddies!!!

Hope your day has been filled with all kinds of good stuff! Thanks for visiting me this past week!

  25. Like Hootin' Annie, I also find a different 'take on this. Right now I'm saying (to me!) There are no 'wasted' years. With out what I call wasted, I'd never have found what I now see and know. Happiness without my blood diluted with alcohol, and a program to STAY this way!

Wasted, maybe, to some...but I believe God knows--always knew--what God is doing!

You write beautifully as usual. Soon that "icy" stuff (both meanings!) will be history, as other seasons take its place.

    Love and PEACE!

  30. Your words have touched me deeply as always...there is no way to control the weather, outside or inside, but we can learn to observe it and experience it for what it is...wait it out, trusting that it will change again.
