When I’m alone your face floats before my eyes,
there’s an ache on my skin where your touch has been,
why did you go, why did you leave such a sadness,
it’s only you, since I met you it’s only you who holds my heart,
who owns my soul, be with me now.

This is 55 word piece offering, in remembering an old friend, Galen Hayes, now hosted by Joy at Verse Escape so if you want to participate, head on over there.

  1. I am so thankful not to be in that place. Genuinely. It sounds like a horrible punishment for being brave enough to love someone. I hope you get him back or move on. That limbo is a miserable place to stay for very long.

  2. When the hold is that strong, they know it and don't care. They get complacent and careless.

  3. You voice the questions without answers which all of us have asked numerous times over the course of our lives: Why did you go?

  4. This rings with loss, with that ache that misses one particular touch--beautifully put together, these words that ask the perpetual, seldom answered question--why? Thanks so much for participating, Shadow, and remembering the G-man with us.

  5. Reminds me of another day....a pain that has finally subsided.

  6. This makes me think so much of the movie Pearl Harbor this time.

  7. Absence is like phantom pains... loosing someone close is amputation.

  8. Wonderful writing about loss ~ beautiful done ~

    Happy Week ahead to you,
    A ShutterBug Explores,
    aka (A Creative Harbor)

  9. I definitely feel the ache. The absence.
Of the supremecy of love, and the feeling
of being so far from it. So far apart.

  10. Great image you created once again Ms. V.
and, I love the comment above [Brudberg]....loosing someone close is amputation.

I will check my email. I'm glad you told me. I look forward to seeing your new home.
