see inside...

impulse dictates
you search for dreams
at the end of the highway far,
when all you need
is to look inside
the chambers of your heart.

  1. It is in the heart where the roads reach the furthest. Better a well traveled heart than a well worn shoe.

  2. Short and simple. Just need to look into my heart. Getting there slowly . . . I know there is a lot that awaits me inside. Thanks Shadow! Blessings to you....

  5. Awesomeness is deeply integrated in these lines as are there within you. These words of wisdom could not be better said, I think. The best lines I have read these days. Thanks for sharing.

  6. Yes! Now if we could only remember that when we get so frustrated with ourselves. As always, beautiful!

  10. I like the way you say impulse, as in seems natural to venture out to find that which is within. In this past year I am finding the person within and hey, she's not so bad.

  11. So immensely true! How come I can only learn after trying?

  12. Perfect! ...and I had this immediate sense of 'tranquility' reading your words and viewing that photo.

You are a tonic to this soul~

  13. The mystery can sometimes be so scary, but there are times when you think you have found heaven.

  14. Shadow, you have done good here. I also like the use of the word "impulse" because it's a natural instinct to seek dreams down the road, away somewhere over the rainbow. I also like the "chambers" of the heart, those many-rooms beating within that keep us living, breathing, moving.

Thank you for your thoughtful discussion on my blog today about troubled pasts and what we can learn from them, how to conquer them. Blessings to you,
    Chris

  18. Beautiful
Up to now one of my favorite poems was by Emily Dickerson--
One need not be a chamber---to be Haunted--
One need not be a House--
    The brain has Corridors--surpasssing
    Material place.
I will not think of hers without yours.

  20. Shadow- Sorry, can't join the choir on this one. My heart drives me and leads me to my dreams; makes me desire them. But my dreams don't exist there. But I am glad for the easy trip others have. Mine is always the hard way. Still a lovely write. ~rick

  35. this resonates with me right now... I know I am taking things for granted and feel the need for more than I have (not materialistically)... searching... questioning... but I know I need someone to come pour a bucket of cold water over my head,,, or shake me to make me wake up and see reality. I know it, but somehow I dont feel it.

    Happy Monday Shadow!

  37. The title alone grasps hold of my mind...'see inside' and often we may fear what we find...? wonderful thought process you have here

  38. Shadow, I agree with you but, but, but....but sometimes the journey is what allows me to clear my head, gather my world-strewn thoughts and words, and settle into an existence, although seeming boring, may leave a tone for generations to follow.

Is that a record for the longest sentence-of-the-day???

  39. Looking inside is one of the most difficult things in this life.
    because
-it is too close to us
-it is blurred by millons of modern life distractions
-we are not sure we want to know what is in there
    Love pal

  40. I do agree! And I just love your combinations of words and pictures, as always!
