The silence of the shadows

Breathe a deep sigh in the silence of the shadows,
become still as you drink in the night,
savor the solitary moments alone
with the magical touch of moonlight.
Feel as it weaves through you, cleansing your thoughts,
removing the grit and the grime
that's tainting your vision, containing your soul,
in the distance the old church bells chime.
Watch as the ribbons untie and fall,
one by one, they allow your release,
and you soar into velvety arms that reign
in a space of content that won't cease.
So as this day nods its head towards the dusk,
I welcome the coming night,
brought by the heavens, kissed by the stars,
to this dark I submit without fight.

  1. We still have our synchronous moments Shadow. Be Well in the moonlight and with that i think I will go to the cold of the nights leavings and have a cigarette.

to a dark that you just described, I might not even be willing to see the dawn.

  5. For me, I see this post as saying Silence of Shadow as well, and you describe in the poem what has been going on with you. Untied ribbons do allow release. I wish you much happiness in the new year.

  6. I love the feeling of peacefulness in the twilight ... the distant chiming of the church bells ... the way certain evenings unleash particular kinds of thoughts. I particularly like the image of soaring into velvety arms. Something so compelling in that idea. xx Jos

  9. Walking the path betwen light and dark is precarious at best. I fall with purpose to one side or the other as it pleases me.

  10. Shadows are always silent, there is no way for them to make sound.
Anyway I wanted to wish you a merry Xmas and a really happy new year my friend.
    Take care

  12. Shadow, I agree with Blaspheming Aesthete. I have felt cheated, in that the most beautiful dark the most dark is only visible for those few moments before the first hint of
    light.

    You are still magnificent!
