Empty tears flow into the black river of hopelessness
that winds through a frozen land of smoking ice.
Unblinking eyes greet a future unimaginable,
where redemption’s unattainable
by a self-imposed ban of absolution,
in the lost and forgotten realm of regret.
Hmm...so deep regret is the slayer of self~forgiveness?
ReplyDeleteYes, i s'pose so
What a deep hole to fall into
~love the unblinking eyes
Wow. You've got some fantastic imagery here! Smoking ice...the lost and forgotten realm of regret. You nailed this one, shadow.
ReplyDeleteTO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
ReplyDeleteWhen a Peep is at the very bottom, there is just nowhere else to go--except--you know--up!
So grab the stepladder (See? Twelve steps!), begin the climb. Somebody hold the ladder. Once on the way up and out of the pit, step carefully. Do not fall, for it is "down all the way" in a hurry!
And have NO fear of asking for help. All of us here had to do that. Either for our very survival, or for that humbling experience ...without which my PRIDE and EGO will continue sucking me downward.
LOVE and PEACE then become JOY!
Steve
for some reason i can barely read this....the text is all grey...i think we can def cover ourselves in regret to the point of near exile from forgiveness...it is a beautiful gift we give ourselves to let things go...
ReplyDeleteYou are such a dark and morose girl.
ReplyDeleteBut in the 3-D world I bet you are a JOY to be around!!!
Have a Kick Ass Week-End Shadow Dancing
Nice painting of the cold and regretful heart ~

ReplyDeleteShadow, my mind captures this moment. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteaccording to apache legend, we are in the final stages of this planet, having gone through the first two of four of the coming apocalypse without heed for the environment
ReplyDeleteyour write shows your awareness of it, sensing its certainty....
Shadow...Ms. V....your words echo what I think, in life, we've all been through and felt. This was magnificent. You're so so rich and wealthy in talent. You take a simple word and make it come alive.
ReplyDeleteI think we are both are lingering in our regrets right now....at least the poet in us is.....your words are always a powerful image Shadow! :-)
ReplyDeleteBeneath every negative is a positive waiting to emerge, my grandma used to say. I think I sense them shuffling beneath your well composed poems. Wait for it...
ReplyDeleteForgive, girl. Yes, even yourself.
ReplyDeleteno sin is greater than Gods mercy.
ReplyDeleteNice poem...
ReplyDeletehow sad this is...makes one feel rather empty...
ReplyDeleteSandi
Sad, Shadow. I hope that you know there are always second chances.
