The Fate of the Dreamer

I find my way through moonlight
through the twinkling midnight stars,
to the big-eyed girl that’s listening
in her mind to blues guitars,
while she drifts into a waking
dreamland that is hers alone,
where she dreams past what is real,
that which she has now outgrown.

And this dreamer flits through mazes,
follows instinct, has no doubt,
as she tweaks dirt into beauty
with an ease in time lights-out,
‘till the threat of nearing dawn
lasso’s in this spirit free,
and with misery she descends,
for the dawn weighs heavily.

  1. Aye that time, the dawn is the wary hour, the bit of the day when the expectations of others try to make the spirit of the night a mustang corralled. I say "Fuck 'Em" I own my days and nights.

I love the first 12 lines and always rebel heavily against the last 4.

  2. ha i like that she has outgrown reality...sadly the dawn does come and we must return once more from our dreams...like the blues guitar as well...it sets the tone nice...

  3. Shadow Dancing...
I can't imagine you flitting thru anything.
    Beautiful yet a bit sad.

  5. I've seen her, met her, shared her dreams and her dawn.
    You got it right

  7. Shadow, you ARE really good, girl!

I followed happily through light of the moon and stars,
through music blue, and on into the wakefulness of this moment, now.
    Then our thoughts--hers and mine--sped down differing directions;

Her misery, dawn's heavy weight, separated
from my JOY at greeting a new day
of wonder, hope, meaning, growth, willingness to be surprised.

    Most days--not all--grin!
    PEACE, Verena!

  8. I am happy to see that you are posting again ~

Sometimes for some the dreamland is a better place, than meeting the dawn which weighs so heavily ~

  9. An enjoyable dance with rhyme here, but lets hope another dawn brings a happier day with it! :)
